Was looking at getting a small inexpensive amp for use with a 2950dx Radio will be used on am and output is adjustable down to 1 watt. Looking for Durable clean for the neighbors and Aprox 100 watts. Not sure if transistors or mosfets are better just a low price and aprox 100 watts, I already have a larger amp. just want something for local use when the noise level is out of control.

The Texas star 250 is a nice and clean little amp that does about 150-200 watts with the 2950's power in.

I would still recommend the Texas star 250. They are AB biased and are very clean if not over driven, even on ssb. With about 15-18 watts of drive, they do about 150 and don't draw much current either. Maybe someone else will chime in with some other info and suggestions. '73 for now!

I would use the 350 and call it done.

No need to invest in a smaller amplifier when the 350 will get the job done,

As far as signal, 100 watts would be an S-5,,, 400 watts would be an S-6,, not much difference between that TS350 and the TS250.

There is a thread on biasing on the Italian made mosfet amps here on the site. If I remember correctly they are class C so if you are a SSB user they would need modded.

Best thing to do is improve the antenna system. If it is local QRM nothing like a yagi to cut down on the noise in one direction.

Since you are running a 350 already just reduce the power going into the amp to where you are getting the 100 or so watts output you are after....

Dropping the power into the amp wont hurt it in anyway

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
