If you start hearing weird noises from that antenna then it's time to get to the storm shelter.
Could happen to any antenna.I have talked all over the world on my Antron 99 at just 30 ft.It was FREE & I use it on 10,11,12,15,& 17 meters & I get great signal reports on it.It has survived several Hurricanes & hundreds of North Florida Thunderstorms.
