Hello, if I remember correctly I don't think I had the opional radial kit attached, I just used the straight antenna, and Roadsquawker brings up a good point also,who or bow far do you want to reach out?? again just my two cents, later.....

Can this b affecting it? Coax against alum?

RF flows on the surface of a conductor, not through it like DC current.

The RF you transmit and receive flows on the outer of the centre conductor and on the inner surface of the outer braid so is effectively isolated from anything on the other side of the braid.
