After a few years of astrovan and s10 ignition noise I’ve located a few things that helped. Cb hf and vhf all just spring from ignition noise. Here’s what I’ve found.
89s10 a constant whooshing to a solid white noise as speed picks up in the rx while driving. It’s the cable less Speedo module under the dash. There’s no way I’ve found to fix it. So I just unplugged the module
Astrovan terrible ignition noise. Changed plugs wires plugs cap rotor. Twice. Sleeved and grounded ignition system in braided core mesh tubing. Including power to coil and distributior. Bonded all sorts of stuff. On accident I found a plug wire laying on the body inside the doghouse. Moved it and it got better. Strapped all the plug wires tight to engine and almost all of the ignition noise went away. This was after sleeving and bonding the braids to ground. After bonding frame to engine to body too. Just tying them uptight it lowered it enough the noise blanker makes a difference now and I can hear stations while it’s running.
I tried chokes, rerouting cables, moving antenna, changing antennas, filters and hours upon hours. Hope this helps Someone.
