I just set my parents up with a new computer running Windows Vista Home Basic. Yeah, yeah, I know. I should upgrade back to XP. When the PC boots up it asks for a user name and password to log onto Windows.I want it to log on automatically but can't figure it out. I am familiar with Windows 98, Windows 2000 Pro, and Windows XP Media Centre and how to change the way users logon but Vista has me stumped.I just want them to push the power button and let the PC boot up into Windows and launch the email program without having to enter a password everytime. I already have the email part setup after they enter the passord to log onto Windows. All I need to know is how to have an account set up to auto logon. Any help out there?

Open the Run Dialog (type run in the Start Menu Search), and run the following command:
control userpasswords2
Press OK and you will be presented with a nice dialog. Right where it says "User must enter username and password to use this computer", uncheck the box, enter your credentials and you are done.

:cursing: That's the same thing I had to do with my XP machine but I forgot all about it. I was looking to do it the same way W2000Pro did.:blushing: Thanks Ron!
