I recently rebuilt a B&K 177 vtvm.
I found the manual for it on the internet.

The manual shows extra probes to cover higher voltages and frequency. I think they were the AV-1 and AV-2. But no where does it tell you what the standard probes are. I can not find the info on the net.

I made up some test leads and it reads DC and Resistance fine. But I am thinking that the origial probes had a switch and maybe a resistor in it.
Does anyone have a clue?

To cover higher voltages it would have a series resistor, chosen by a the meters internal resistance, for an rf probe it would have a diode and cap to demodulate the rf and charge the cap to a voltage that represents the rf signal strength. Direct probes are just that direct.

Is it possible to be on a lake and have a homing directional beam being emitted from the shore so a person could navigate to that beam's source? For example at night to a jetty.
