The Baofeng UV-5RA VHF/UHF handheld is probably one of the most prolific radios in the amateur community. The ham community generally "knows" that these radios are considered dirty, but I'm not sure how many people have actually seen spectrum analyzer results. Well, here you go:

Here are the results for a fundamental transmission on 146.52 Mhz:

The 2nd harmonic is about -51db, the 3rd harmonic is right at -65db. The good news is that there aren't really any significant signals beyond the 3rd harmonic.

Here is the plot with a transmission on 444.5 Mhz:

In this plot, you can see the 2nd harmonic is -53db, 3rd is -59db and 4th harmonic is about -73db.

Now you know!

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
