I concur with Doc,,although he is a mud duck,,,,,,,I agree dont start that buy this 400 dollar radio and then as you get more into the hobby you sell the 400 dollar radio for 250-300 because you want to get more of the "goodies" Buy a radio that you can grow into NOW

all 3 of the radios will make a tech happy as it has 6 meter 2 meter and 70cm coverage and as you progress to a general or extra class your set and can add on filters (SSB or CW) depending on your interest,,,those can be used mobile or base (with a power supply of course)
