Best Base amp for under 500.00 enough said.

If you wanna go tube. Palomar 300a or skipper 300.
if pills/transistors. Palomar, boomers, super star, or the ones that are no names as theres no name printed on it at all 500, 4 x 1446's with an added plus of a 12 volt 35 amp built in power supply.
I don't know if the claims of 35 amps are true as I don't have an amp meter but those built in power supply's never had any problem running a non modified 4 watt AM 12 watt ssb mobile rig.
Although I mostly used the power supply to light up a meter it never failed using a rig or meter light. There printed with an AB1 Biased but you know that's bs.
Never the less they all worked and excellent for me. when I used them on a regular basis or used them to give my tubers a rest.
Many will say there junk but I suspect they've never owned one.
I own three and although I perfer using my tube amps I have used the Palomar, shoothing star and no name labelled 4 x 1446's for long periods with no issues except for the one my cousin gave me (freebie) and it had issues because he abused it from day one.
Imo it's no better or worse than any of this types of cb amps.
With that being said they've always worked great for me with great reports.
Driven with 1 1/2 watts and 12-15 on ssb it will last and you'll be happier than a pig in shit.
If your in no rush and rushing will be the first and biggest mistake you can and, will make. If you gonna bid on an eBay item due your diligence, ask a lot of questions and don't feel like your over doing it.
If the seller has nothing to hide he won't mind all the questions. If he has something to hide you'll definitely know. Descriptions are the first and besides his feedback will be very important.
There's many amps available on eBay that will work as described and give you many years of care free use. Just drive them low and they'll treat you right. $500 or less including shipping should get you something better then your exspecting. Good luck but s s wc fields once said "luck is for suckers" p.s. i can't advise you on two of the three rigs you asking about. I run a uniden Madison as my every day rt ig but before that used a uniden Washington with silver eagle and always got great reports. It's now my back up rig.
Plug it in ,plug it in was looking at a small 2 pill you name it, SSB and am and 2879's or SD1466 or 2290's Mosfets perhaps What are your thoughts Galaxy 99 V2 cobra 148 and Uniden washington

That's a good price on the TNT600 exit13!! I like mine, although it doesn't see any use nowadays!! Toshiba or DEI transistors?? Mine has the Toshibas. Just curious. If you re did the biasing like you have said, it should be a mean clean talking amp that's for sure!!!!

222, My X-Force is not the TNT 600 model, mine's an actual 4 pill base amp. It was originally 2 x 4, but I removed the driver section and made it a straight 4 pill. I took out the original non-regulated power supply and installed a 75 amp computer power supply. My amp has the Toshiba 2879's in it.

The reason I don't use it? It doesn't play well with my President Madison. It works fantastic with EVERY other radio I own.... BUT my Madison. I'm not gonna give up my Madison, so the amp has gotta go. I'll maybe find something down the road that will work, but for now, I run barefoot 99% of the time, and the 1% I do use heat, I use about 150W.

~Cheers~
