Best Mic? 955

I think individual voice, tone, volume etc is a factor. A basey voice may sound better over Astatic? A higher tone, etc, on the following three? Just a thought. Myself, an original, if you can find one, RK-56, or a TopGun 56 (built like original RK-56,) and Ranger SRA 198. I use all three, and like all fairly equally, getting positive audio checks on all.

Well too much “base” would require spending more time mobile. So I would stick with adjusting the bass and treble.

Turner +3 hand mic comes to mind, but I prefer their RK70/76 hand mic. Like the M+3 plus noise canceling.

I have been playing around with different mics on my 955 the last few days. I had the radio into a dummy load and listened to myself with 3 other radios (980SSB, RTL-SDR, and Tecsun PL-330). By a long shot, I think the stock mic has the best sounding audio and is the loudest. Every other mic I have tried with this radio keeps me going back to the stock mic.

I wonder if that's because they're matched? Add road noise to it, and a noise canceling mic may shine.

All new, RK56B had the best reports, then the SRA198, lastly the 636
