my new home has all hardwood floors..
with a coat of clear shizz on top..

i tried to mop it with pinesol, but i get waterspot marks..

what should i get to clean it right?

after the move is finally done, i have to get some minwax to touch up
the minor scratches to the clear coat on the floors..

wax remover then reapply

its not waxed.. just clear coated..

i tried that orange glow junk but its not a good system..
the floors are so glossy, if you are wearing sox, you risk busting your ass constantly..

never had floors like this before..
at my old house, my computer room was hardwood..
but not with the finish on it like this..

i can still mop it, but when the light hits it sometimes, i see water spots..

never seen floors like this..

i have to go buy some clear coat to touch up a few spots..
moving stuff left tiny scratches in the finish..

The hardware store sells hardwood floor cleaner and a special mop thingy, my wife found the wet swifter also works on our hardwood floor.

A dry dust mop and Pledge furniture polish works good also, but if you got dogs or kids they tend to slip alot :D

Wouldn't you know it, can't remember the name of the stuff! Automatic dishwasher soap, sort of a greenish box, non-spotting. (Also works well on cars, no spots even if you don't dry it.) Not soaking wet, but damp mop those floors.

That it, Doc?

thanks for the ideas.. i will try some of them out..

i tried the pledge wax in a small area and it was like an ice skating ring :)

Since your worried about scratches, why don't you just rent a ROS and resurface the whole thing? Goes quick, looks great, and kills 2 problems at once.

no need to resurface.. the scratches are in the clear coat as a result of
sliding furniture around a bit.. they dont go through to the wood..

the floors look like GLASS! im not kidding..

im getting some minwax kind of clear coat to touch up the
scratches once the move is finally finished..

its cleaning the floor that is what im trying to do best..

i got some good ideas from the posters in this thread..
once i get finished on the 15th, i will clean the floors again..

one thing i love about the floors, you cant stain them!
in our old house, the carpets had many small stains that wouldnt come out..

you spill something on the floors here and it cant soak in..
looks like they did 2-3 coats of clear coat on it! maybe more..
even the small spaces between the wood is completely sealed..

im guessing everytime they rent out an apartment, they spot sand
and clear coat the entire appartment.. might be many coats :)

try asking the landlord to do it.

i could call the super, but its kind of lame to bug him about fixing
slight scratches we caused moving in..

he is freaking fast to fix things around here..

when i first moved in, the heat control valve was leaking internally.. could not be shut off..

the common door someone changed the back so there was no way to lock it..
anyone could open the door and be completely out of sight to break into
either of the 2 apartments..

i made the call, 15 minutes later he showed up..
30 minutes later he came back with a new valve and new locking door knob and keys..

i cant believe how quiet it is around here..
rahway sucked.. i got used to it.. now that im here its un real..

you dont hear cops, ambulances, scumbag kids breaking stuff and making noise..
no more cars racing up and down the street..

Then he would be the one who knows what has been done and knows the best solution for the floor. hahah super, that kills(y)
