I have a swan 1200x amp. It takes 8950 tubes. Was wondering if anyone has any (used or new) in good working condition at a resonable price?

Swan 1200X 8950 to 6LB6 Tube Conversion Kit - 4 6LB6 - eBay (item 380208494405 end time Feb-14-11 13:26:15 PST)

Quote:

". . .This is a conversion kit to replace the 8950 tubes in the amplifier with 6LB6 tubes.

Included are 6LB6 (4) + an 8950 to 6LB6 conversion kit (with schematics and instructions). Instructions are included for rewiring the 8950 sockets from 12 volt filaments in parallel to 6 volt filaments. The 6LB6 is a direct replacement for the very expensive 8950 tube with the only difference being the 6 volt filament verses the 12 volt 8950 filament.

This wiring change should be done by a qualified technician/owner as their are LETHAL voltages in the amplifier and you should know what you are doing BEFORE you take off the amp cover!!!!! If you are not sure, buy this auction and take the conversion kit to a qualified technician who can do the change for you. Even with the cost of the technician and this conversion kit, you will probably be better off than paying the $75 per tube for the 8950's and also have a cheap way of replacing tubes in the future . . ."

Go to QTH classifieds, someone is selling tested 8950 tubes for 60 dollars a set,30 bucks a tube is pretty cheap, maybe worth a look see.

I have done the 6LB6 modification on some Siltronix 1011C and D's , works fine.
