It doesn't have a side band switch and I think the grids are grounded. I think I talked to someone about adding bias, I will have to go back and read it again.Class C or do they have a bit of bias on them ?
My experience is that they are noticeably more linear with a bit of bias. Much like the 6KV6A, one of my favorite crossover (as good at audio as RF) tubes.
Class C could be as much as 10% more efficient.
Are you looking to put them in one of your amps? What's the rated output of a 6KM6?
Can you tell me what you got or would've exspected to have gotten out of the amp had the 6lq6's (in the context) been good? I'm assuming you did the swap because the 6lq6's in the context were soft? What do you think you lost in total output from the 6km6's as opposed to the 6lq6's?I get about 80w each out of mine in the Context amp. They are a direct replacement for the 6LQ6 that it had. I say direct as in you can just plug them in and they will work. Basically same as 6LQ6 but less power and a whole lot cheaper.
Wow! That's 16 and a half watts per tube? I hate to ask another question but you answer threw me a bit.16.5 at rated dissipation and expected efficiency. (45% or so in class ABx)
No C. I have 9 backup 6lq6's but last time I used the Phantom it was showing full output, or at least what I think the Phantoms 9 6lq6's should show. With 11/2 DK and 17 pep I saw 150 DK, and 600 pep.Are you looking to put them in one of your amps?
I was getting about 100w pep each for the 6LQ6 that it came with. I am not sure what a new one would do in this amp. I bought a dozen of the 6KM6 a while ago for about $9 each. Can you tell me what you got or would've exspected to have gotten out of the amp had the 6lq6's (in the context) been good? I'm assuming you did the swap because the 6lq6's in the context were soft? What do you think you lost in total output from the 6km6's as opposed to the 6lq6's?
I'm guessing that whatever you lost wouldn't have been enough to make a difference on the other end? Thanks C
Haha yes we have been trying to get together for some time. My work is a zoo at the moment with more equipment installs. It seems that the more I do, the more they want me to do. Go figure. It is good to hear from you. Pm sent.No C. I have 9 backup 6lq6's but last time I used the Phantom it was showing full output, or at least what I think the Phantoms 9 6lq6's should show. With 20 watts on SSB it shows 800.
That reading was taken on the two wm1's and the MFJ 828. C. I know we've gone back and forth for some time now and it's obviously been my fault we haven't gotten together. I was a bit put off because of amp issues. All three amps have problems. Now that you're where you are technologically, would you be willing to take the 3 amps home with you and give them a look-see?
I have an excellent tech who no doubt could repair all 3 but boxing and shipping them has become a tremendous problem for me. If you don't mind taking them with you and giving them a look-see I would greatly appreciate it. If it's something beyond your technical abilities maybe you could be kind enough to box them up for me, and bring them back when you come to put the antenna up? The Phantom in my opinion is the one with the least problem. Don't ask me why because I couldn't tell you but I think it's nothing major. Not to mention that all this stuff I have for you is cluttering up the room I use as the shack, and I need to get them out of here. I promise you that the next appointment we make I will keep! if you're not doing anything next weekend either Saturday or Sunday preferably a Saturday for me you could take the trip, and collect everything. I would like to have both WM1's calibrated as per the online manual directions. I don't want to lay all these things on you at once, but since you're going to be here, and you're comfortable with your abilities and possibly repairing the amps, and calibrating the meters I would be grateful beyond words. I have complete trust in you and you abilities. I know if you can't repair it you'll let me know it needs to be sent in. I'm not looking for a freebie. if you're able to do the work that I need I will be more than glad to pay you for your time. It's not only boxing up the amps that is a problem it's the concern about putting them through the mail system. Even though all 3 amps have been shipped twice round trip without issue I feel like my luck is possibly going to run out. Please FB message me, text, or even call at your convenience. If you can come on an upcoming weekend It would have to be after 1 p.m.. That's my only request as far as time goes. I checked your address to mine on the trip calculator and it shows a 1-hour ride. My experience with that trip calculator is that it's approximately 10 minutes off. It usually takes me 50 minutes for a one-hour trip that's been calculated with the app that I use. I really want to get back on the air by springtime if that's possible. And like I mentioned I really would like you to get all this stuff I have for you. I even dug up a fs 23 and fs 3023. I just want to keep one of them for parts. You can choose and take which ever one you like best. I also discovered what appears to be a brand new or very slightly used pal vfo, and a nice Autek QF-A1 for you. The list keeps growing. I hope we can get together SOON! Let's do this C! Just give me a push! Thanks my friend.
I just noticed the link you added for your context C. Wow! I recall when you got that amp.I get about 80w each out of mine in the Context amp. They are a direct replacement for the 6LQ6 that it had. I say direct as in you can just plug them in and they will work. Basically same as 6LQ6 but less power and a whole lot cheaper.
