Puerto Ricans were always on 26.6150 or 26.7150=superbowl for them but now they are using channel 9
I think it was1990 was the last time I head traffic on Ch 9 and they were wanting directions.
He would use the Two meter simplex call channel.
here in florida channel 9 is puerto rico and cuban channel lot of traffic there in the tampa bay area
I think the need for channel 9 has diminished with the advent of cb's with scan function and cell phones, but you already know that...

Sadly, the novel cause the Channel is supposed to represent, has been drowned out by the Shouts and Echoes of others that take to the notion that they are more important.
That Channel is no longer "quiet" enough to hear peoples cries for help, it has been supplanted by Technology that has evolved since then, under such names as Samsung, Nokia - Motorola.
Heck Even Google
it's more personal now, "Every Life Matters"
We can't take back that which never was ours to begin with.

25 years or so, got Mexico on there usually, still makes me wonder that a new cb comes with channel 9 switch, is 9 emergency channel going to come back? Some locals use it for chitchat , don't think it's monitored anymore

In N.Y. it is the Puerto Rican Channel.
In Puerto Rico its the Puerto Rican channel too
When the skip is running, channel 9 was the one channel not full of norte`s jabbering in english.
If you're that far south, it would be the only halfway clear channel.
