I was out of town most of the month of July.
I did answer the email.
I was on a road trip. I am home now.
Yes, I have Chipswitches available.

Thanks, I will look into it. This guy has been asking about this mod for about a year and I kept putting it off. Shouldn't be too hard if the factory solder isn't that lead free stuff, given the age of the rig, I'd say not.Last I spoke with him, he had both Chips and sockets, they are not hard to replace if you are proficient at soldering, I did several back when these were popular.
The only caution is to make sure you don't pull out any through hole connectors in the board.
Tiny copper sleeves that make contact from the top to the bottom of the board.

It's really not bad, some would use a pair of snippers to carefully cut all 64 pins and then remove one pin at a time. Thanks, I will look into it. That's what I use, with the bulb, and I am quite fond of it, although the tips are like hens teeth now. I only use it when I can't use the plunger type, to keep the last 2 tips I have going. I think the vacuum type is next on my list if I can't get anymore bulb types. Ditto on cutting the pins, but that's just not my style these days, since the stock chip is still good. Thanks again Jeff, I sent an email to initiate the transaction. It's really not bad, some would use a pair of slippers to carefully cut all 64 pins and then remove one pin at a time.
I used a simple RS desoldering tool with the squeeze bulb and never had a problem.
I got a 2600 one-time off fleabay cheap that was DOA with a ChipSwitch, the person that attempted the install pulled a couple of the feed throughs out of the board and bricked it.
About 30 min work and it was fixed.

Yes, I still have the Chip and sockets. I do ship with an install guide and an operations manual. Email me: rogerbird1 @ aim. com (remove spaces)Are these still available @Rogerbird1 ? Is there an install guide for the chip switch or just swap chip, convert, broadband and tune? Asking for a friend. I'm very comfortable soldering and unsoldering sensitive ic's/pll's. Does the kit include a socket? Thanks.
