I found 2 different mods for the 2995DXxx but don’t want to perform the wrong on.

1)This Mod will fit all of the following ,RCI2950, 70, 85, 95-DX. All having the same PCB.
1. Remove D-63 & R-115,Using a soldering iorn.
D-63 is in a row of 5, last one to the right next to VR-8,frequency adjust
R-115 is in a row of 2 next to the J-28 (a 3-pin connector) right side closest to the connector .

2. Find the J-28 connector F-1 pin BLACK wire , Add a wire on top of the black wire ,
the other end of this wire to an 8V source space in J-29 connector.
Note: The 8-volts can also be obtained from connectors J29, J27 or J26.
Note J-29 may not be marked,it is (black) in color.

Readjust L-19 LSB, L-20 USB with clarifier at center.

2) The other dosent remove R-115 and says to At J28 cut the black wire close to the connector and solder it to point marked 8V on J29. As the mod above seems to just add a 8v source to J28 black wire?

Mostly I tell people DON'T BOTHER!

Any radio that tunes the transmit side in steps of 1/10 kHz can be tuned about as well as any CBer will bother. This lets you use the front-panel clarifier to fine-tune the receiver alone.

A radio that travels a full 10 kHz or more per click really needs this mod.

A radio with 1/10 kHz steps, not so much. I suspect the scarcity of advice for this trick reflects how mostly-useless it is.

Remove R322, D63, and R115
Attach a wire from the hole left by R115 that connects to J28 F1:

The other end of the wire goes to the hole left by the anode of D63:

Then on the solder side of the board, solder a wire from the hole left by R322 that connects to VR8 and a constant 8v source - J27/J8/J14/J17.

Put the clarifier straight up and adjust VR8 for "on" frequency. You don't adjust the tuning coils.

You only need 100Hz of "slide".

Good Luck
