Coax Comparison

Why would you run LMR-400 in a mobile install? You are running what 16' or so? It's not worth it, RG8x or even RG58 is now than adequate even running some power.
For someone with the cable dangling outside their vehicle at 75 miles an hour the lmr-400 won't be flopping around in the Wind like lmr-240 or something thinner. Metal fatigue would make short work of The thinner cable at 75 miles an hour.

I use all LMR-240 with a 60 foot run on my base. Also going to use it when my beam goes up this spring. Easy to work with and doesn't take up too much room. So far, performance has been exemplary.

I will be going with RG400 when I put my Quad6 in the truck and the Maco base. Its a little pricey but I dont need that much, maybe 12 feet from the radio to the screw driver antenna. I really like the shielding it has and the PTFE dielectric. I got extra to put on my Maco 5/8's as well. I need about 38 feet for that to get from my 8 pill to the base antenna.
