Im in the market for a new CB and i was wondering about these 2 radios. What you opinion of them. And after a good peak and tune which would have the most power or would they be about the same.

Galaxy GOOD, newer 148 BAD, imho. The Galaxy will show more power on TX, as well as stronger audio for a small receive signal.
well I been thinking about a General Sherman which is supposed to be the same as the ranger 296 and old 148 GTL I just bought a used cobra 29 to replace my Magnum that I am selling on ebay. I still want to buy a new radio though im selling my Magnum because it does way more than i need it to a stupid as that sounds i wanted a good radio that was powerful. Then i did a little research after i bought it and found out i can get a lot of power out of $120 radio for cheaper than getting it out of the box for $260 The cobra 29 i bought does 30 watts and it only cost me $55.
$119 on ebay new thats about the only place ive been able to find them. I going to buy it as soon as my Magnum sells.
How about a Uniden Grant LT? It is out of production but there are still some out there. I have seen them for $180 or so.
