Cobra 148 GTL....Taiwan. Is it a keeper?

I mentioned Mr. 543_Dallas because i know very well he doesn't do business with folks who sell cheap/old or knockoff parts. You can bet if he recommends a supplier its because he has experience with that suppliers parts and trusts them to be high quality.
I see nothing wrong with replacing electrolytics in a 40 year old transceiver that's been sitting for a long time. We replace old electrolytics often in our tube amplifiers, why not maintain our older radios the same way?
In the end do what you think is best for your radio.

  • @ Hambones amps:
Does anyone know if you can replace the 2290 in a galaxy dx 93t twin turbine with a 2sc2879 red dot? If so, what would have to be tuned?
  • @ ShadowDelaware:
Hambones the entire amp section would have to be retuned, and the rf transformers re wrapped.
