cobra 148 with a ranger 396F face and counter

i have a Taiwan made 148gtl that im wanting to install a face and counter from aa ranger 396FC on to have a frequency counter on basically to make my own 148F out of like the one lescomm makes but leaving the Taiwan board unmodified as far as high power or echo or receiver mods goes just adding the counter module and face plate and ill have gamma ray make my decal for it. I have suspected a modification to the module itself with need to happen for side band to work correctly and help will be greatly appreciated thanks

I’m finally getting started on this Taiwan 148 hopefully will have the ranger frequency counter and face plate done here soon. I’m having trouble getting the am and srf controls to clear the frequency counter it’s supper right in there and I hope I can wire it to my board so that I don’t have the jump in usb and lsb. I’ve heard others running into this problem but I’ve not made it that far yet.

If any of you have any pics on hooking this up to the board or just help on this chassis in general I would greatly appreciate it. Also that mess of wires on the board is coming off just focusing on this counter setup at the moment thanks y’all.

So ssb is real good and can hear extremely well but am is real quiet with NB anl off has no static hardly at all even in the truck but it was like that before. I wonder if anyone in here knows what is commonly at fault for this I had a 2000 same way am ears was low but ssb was good and sensitive what could cause this thanks for any info on this

I had one on my bench about a year ago with the same issue. I believe the problem was the 455Khz filter.

This critter here vvvvvvvvv if I'm not mistaken.
