Cobra 2000 GTL Alignment?

I *think* those are just a slow blow in most meters. But maybe not, you'd have to investigate it a bit.

F1 Fuse, 440 mA, 1000 V, FAST Fluke PN 943121
F2 Fuse, 11 A, 1000 V, FAST Fluke PN 803293

if you do not find a 440ma fuse you can use a 500ma one in its place. I have bought them at radio shack before. in a bind I have even used a 250ma in its place. it will just blow easier if you overload it.

The fuse for the DMM came today and I set the bias......for some reason the driver bias would only go as low as 38mA....the final bias went right to 60mA...the radio is aligned to factory specs...as close as it would go anyway.

CB Tricks doesn't have it?
Yes, CB Tricks has it, but the service manual for the Cobra 2000 GTL has a TYPO for setting the driver bias current. It incorrectly states "TP3" instead of TP8 and there is why the gentleman is having so much trouble trying to figure this out.

I am at the stage of checking the driver bias and the manual says to check at tp3.....it looks like on this radio that there is no tp3...it sez tps on the board and just 2 empty pin holes?
TP3 is a typo. It is supposed to be TP8. The service manual for the Cobra 2000 GTL on CB tricks has that typo. It is supposed to be TP8.

I just reviewed the SM for this radio, and it explicitly says TP7 & 8. Not to mention, I have done this about a bazillion times. Don't know what you are reading, but you should re-read it before you bust a move.

The DMM setting should be on 'mA' . . .
Hi Robb. I'm not sure which particular service manual that you looked at, but if you go to the CB Tricks link that you sent this gentleman, you will see that it explicitly shows a typo for the driver bias test point. TP3 is supposed to read TP8. I now understand one of the confusion's that this gentleman had.

welcome to the forum Todd.
Not sure if you noticed, but this thread is almost three years old.
I'd be willing to bet that no one is still waiting on an answer on this one.

Usually the way these forums work is that after about two weeks of no responses, the thread is considered either complete or dead.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes

Wes, it's better if you start a thread on the main forum, more people are going to see your question.
