Hello guys trying to figure out these instruction: insert rf meter to antenna jack no modulation put radio in usb dynamike minimum. Check for rf how if no power in ssb ?

So, either this instruction is psychotic and won't achieve a single thing,

Or it's out of context and missing some important detail.

Or what you're checking is for minimum carrier output in sideband transmit. There is a carrier-balance trimpot attached to the sideband modulator chip. And that's what it's for. To cancel out the carrier in sideband transmit.

But I'm just guessing.

We watch the S-meter on a nearby receiver set to the same channel. This has proven a more-sensitive test of where the absolute-minimum carrier setting is on that trimmer pot.

@kaos513 - The step you described is for Carrier Balance

Then, knowing that, it's more of "What" - the how do you set up your system to check for it...and follow that method.

Unless you meter is not an analog type designed to measure uV.

Minimum carrier, listen on a monitor radio as per @nomadradio ...

Unless you have a better way to adjust - that's pretty much what everyone else seems to follow, to LISTEN for the carrier "leaking" thru the Balanced modulator - RF meters these days are not as sensitive as earlier models - ones in 1 to 10 uV aren't as common as those that measure 1 ~10 mV - even if the meter is still D'arsonval in movement or even tries to mimmick - but due to their current amplifier and noise floor messes, they not as sensitive as back in the older "test lab" days...

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes

Wes, it's better if you start a thread on the main forum, more people are going to see your question.
