Cobra 2000gtl clarifier help/problem

course. fine
removed the brown from fine vl.
remover yellow wire from the cvl and to ground
removed D52/D44
RED WIRE TO 8V CONSTANT.

RADIO WILL NOT ALIGN FOR TRANSMIT/RECEIVE. COUNTER SHOWS 1 frequency and will transmit off frequency.

tried a few different ways and same problem.
So i put it all back together stock and is fine.
Havent done 1 of these in a long time.

Any suggestions on what might cause the transmit and receive will not align?

Yeah. The two itty-bitty diodes D52 and D75 alongside the large crystal are in place. They need to go.

As I posted that I removed the brown wire from the Fine pot and I did not do that.
Thought I did but I now removed and all is good lined right up.
