COBRA 2000GTL SQUEAL ON RECIEVE

I have a 2000 that whenever any power mic is hooked up tp it it squeals on recieve when volume is turned up. Anyone ever see this and whats the fix please.

Seen this happen quite a few times with the 148/2000/Grant type radios. Check to make sure that there is no connection between the audio ground (pin 2) and the switch common (pin 4) on the mic plug.

Ill check that tomorrow I have seen 148 and grants also do this I just never owned one so I never dug into the problem interesting how it squeels only on recieve and with volume over certain levels halfway or 12 oclock on volume knob and lookout for one hell of an annoying hetrodyne screech.

is hes not using the orignal speaker.

I agree with space cadet. I've seen that problem many times, too, always comes to the same cause, whether in the mic plug oir in the radio at the mic plug area.

Dave what do you suggest as far as fixing this then or what would you do as far as the mic socket and or plug??

Make sure the mc is wired with 5 separate lines, and make sure the mic jack circuit hasn't been bypassed in some way.

one vmy friend has been modifes with a standard 4 pin
but seems to be wired correctly
