Does rather help to zero in on which one of literally dozens of variations your radio works out to be. That model has been on the market for over 40 years. Made in more than a half-dozen countries, and even more different factories. They are not all created equal. What can you tell me about this particular model?

I will check the back of the radio for info. ThanksWhat is the country & date of manufacture? There will be a little tag on the back that has that info.
The best Cobra's were the pre-1990 ones built in Taiwan, the next best were the Phillipines made ones up till about 1996. I would personally avoid any Cobra made after that year as quality went way down after that.
Just like the 148's, the early ones of higher quality have the mic plug on the side. The later ones of poorer quality have it on the front.
I seem to recall the better 29's were black faced and the later ones chrome, but I could be wrong.
