Cobra 29ltd classic ch selector question

I got a cobra 29 ltd classic (front mic) radio and the chanel selector turns really loose and smooth, almost like a rotary encoder type, its not that solid click click click like the normal style selectors. Is this how they are supposed to be or is mine worn out?

That's normal for the newer 29s. I have one here that was manufactured in November of 2019 and it turns as you describe. I much prefer the older, harder to turn and tactile channel selectors of older 29s.

I wonder if there is an aftermarket replacement? My Stryker 955 could use a better encoder too.

I've seen on YouTube, fine tune cb shop, that's using Alps encoders (I don't know what model it is). They look very well made, he tried them with the drill. I'm also looking for my Stryker 955 that's losing shots.
