Coily Antennas

Stone Crusher, the only advantage to having a two coil is to shorten the overall length only. A two coil performs just as well or maybe a little bit better. Kale

Stone Crusher, I meant to say that a SINGLE coil performes as well or a little bit better than a two coil. Kale

Hello stone Crusher,

I have a Mr. Coily here, it has a 21" shaft, I also have a 10k mounted (22"). I am only using the 10K antenna at the moment, the 10K tuned just a little better better than Mr. Coily for me. I have the antenna mounted on the roof of my F150.

I never really run the Mr. Coily that much, for it puts a little more strain on the roof being that it is bigger is size.

Stonecrusher, Coily's are great performers. A bit heavy though, and you can't change out parts (coils, shaft etc).

Good to hear from you guys and thanks for your input! Glad to hear there working so well for ya maybe I'll try one of each of those seeing that there very comparable. To bad for the weight issue but I might be able to make the coily work on my pickup a little easier than my big truck! 10-4

Take care guys!

Stonecrusher,

I've been running a Coily on my PU for several years and have been very satisfied with its performance. I have a single coil model with the 27 inch mast. I have it mounted behind the cab.

IMO the Coily "Mega double loop" is the best antenna I've used mobile to date. It's big, it's heavy, but it jams and tunes very well.

If you want a light, less obtrusive antenna you can't go wrong with the single coil predator. They also work and tune very well.

Thanks...

I have done a few local keydowns, have taken out a few 16pill set-ups with my 8pill and also dropped the maul on a 20pill armadillo... I am not a power house but the antenna system does work really well... As for big keydowns I have been to a few but haven't keyed (yet)... The truck is still a work in progress, but it is also my daily driver... I just got my leece installed and charging my back battery bank so I am one step closer...
