detachable PL-259's ?????

i saw this at sparkys a while back .
K-40 18' High Quality Coax with Screw On PL-259 LOOK!!

my gut reaction is bad idea , but its another option in a hobby filled with compromises .
what do yall think ?

The PL259 on the end of the stock k-40 coax that comes hard wired to the antenna is like that too.

Never had a problem with it for the 2 years I ran my k-40.

I have had a few of these and have had no troubles. They are nice when you need to feed the coax through tight spaces.

I have to disagree. My Diamond K-400C mount came with a cable that had the PL-259/FME connector on the end and it has worked great for the last six years.It is used on 2m/70 cm where even a slightly loose connection will cause a high SWR.Unless you are running tons and tons of power they should not be a problem.
