I am making a winter antenna using old sigma4 parts, the old hoop is battered so I need to form a new hoop from 3/8 tube, or do I,

I don't see why I need a conductive hoop, It will have 1/4wave legs not the short avanti legs,

I removed the hoop from one of my 51mhz vector 4000's & tuned them both for the same frequency on our 6mtr band,
my buddy scaled a sirio827 for the same band,
when we get time we will be doing some tests to see if deleting the hoop saves tube simplifies the build & performs at least as well as with the hoop.

Looking forward to seeing your results, Hope you are well.

The vector antennas are built with ptfe gammas & just need a small fine tune homer,

you don't need the hoop for them to work ok, that's no surprise to me & it makes models far easier, the cst model Donald posted had no hoop,

I am converting a sirio 827 for 6mtrs for a monitor station at home, coils is made, hubs cleaned, need to get outside to clean the tubes on my polisher,

weather is too crappy for doing signal tests,
I am setting up a remote sdr with a calibrated s-meter so I can take the vectors out in the open away from here & monitor my signal on the laptop,

I have other ideas to try after talking to The DB.

Thanks!
For future projects that is interesting to know if hoop materials are scarce. I look forward to your current project report.

The only thing I've done recently is throwing together an 11 meter 1/2ʎ antenna for a neighbor to use until he buys one after New Years.
