also waitting for the new Icom 90 A/D analog/digital HT

not too many people yet using this stuff and even fewer repeaters

i do think it is the way things are heading in the future
CQ has a small artical on it in the currant edition

I've read the advertisements and their whitepapers on it it, but I don't quite understand the usefulness of it. It seems to me to be a proprietary system?? If you guys have read more about it than me can you give us some details on it to help us understand why we would want to put togeter a system like that?
 
Whether people like it or not..

It is likly Digital is here to Stay..
even police fire and varios Gov agency's must turn to digital by 2013..

so we may as well get used to it and learn how to best use it
so we can continue enjoying our hobby now as well as in future

Our local police are all digital now. Motorola Sabre systems.

I'm keen to try Dstar to see how it performs. I'll have to save my pennies. Buying one is going to hurt, I'll probably have two buy two to test them out. It's going to hurt even more so that I just purchased an IC208. For a few dollars more I could have got the ID800. DOH !
 
At what point do we stop ham ops and begin encroching on commercial services?
