Dumb ???? #4 (robust antenna)

Well,
Turns out my PDC600 is bad. Actual SWR was around 3:1.
My VNA says 2.6:1.
Radio says 3+:1.
My finals said C'ya. Now dead keys at 1 watt.

I guess that's what I get for using a used antenna.
Frustrating.

Now to take it down and figure out what's wrong with the coil.

My bad.
Checked all the connections on the coil. It may have helped, but not much.

I then remembered that the one thing I hadn't done......

The darn RADIALS.
Installed them and the SWR dropped, so low the radio can't measure it.
Next step: run the VNA again. Expecting good things.

Amazing how one little thing can make such a difference.
Guess it helps if you're smarter than a box of rocks. I'm un-armed.
