I first got Midway back when its prefix was KM6, and Kure (which had just been given separate country status by the DXAC) was KK6 for a while. I first got it during a DX contest in about 1961.

I doubt anyone would transmit from Kure or Midway on CB anyway.

My only contact to Midway was on 27.155 (ch16) on 2/4/77.
Call was WR29 - His name was Red

I worked Midway Island MANY years ago on 11m. I was working Saskatchewan and stations further west when the band went loooong. Started hearing Hawaii and then out of nowhere a servicemen on Midway. Oddly enough Saskatchewan is exactly 1/3 the distance and on the same bearing as Midway Island. Triple hop??
