Years ago there was a common modification to use a regular dynamic mic on radios that came with electret condenser. You added a ceramic disk cap to the audio wire of the mic. For the life of me I can't recall the value. Was it .1uF? Anyone?
Capacitor in series works as highpass filter. Lower value, less low/mid, lower output signal from cartridge.
I would use 1uF to not limit it, inside radio there are circuits will take care of it.
