The fellow running “Balun Designs” is nice and helpful, that much I can say.

I had mine in the cart for ages now, so I missed the banner on the front page that said sales were on hold. Had to call and sort it out...and he took the order and put me in the build list.

I’ve been waffling over whether dabbling with this was even a good idea...then I remembered that long before I wanted to play with the antenna at home, I wanted to try one for mobile DXing.

Anyway...will update how it all turns out when the time comes.

I’m not fond of 30’ ladders, so I have to horse trade to borrow a bucket truck

Making a 49:1 is easy to produce. The big factor is the material type, size of toroid.
I have made about 10 over the years. Recently 1 with the approximate rating of 100 watts 40,20,10 metres is around 1.2:1.

EXACTLY, most people don't know that toroids are identified by color,... although some of the Cineeee ones don't follow the color code.
