My bro-in-law has an Emperor 3010 (I sold it to him) in his BIG RIG and even though the SWR is good,he's getting RF back into it which causes it to squeal.Does anyone know of an easy cure....other than replacing the radio?I know that when I used it,it was super-sensitive to RF looping.I'm thinking that a low pass filter may possibly be the answer.....I think that I'll give it a whirl and see what happens. However,I'm open to suggestions.

I am not 100% sure, But the emporer's were designed similar to the 2510's, and if it uses the same Final output transistor as the 5010 or 2510, the Final tab is Ground. (mrf477 or Mrf497 Final)

2510's had all kinds of RF ground looping problems because Uniden Chose not to add an Insulator between the final and the heat sink.

The Final mounting tab was at Power ground and the Heatsink was at Chassi ground. Adding an insulator will typically cure this problem and most other strange SWR issues (like High SWR's with the covers on but normal with the covers off...)

So, if the 3010 uses one of these finals, and it does not have an insulator, I would try adding one - Be sure to apply Heat sink compound to both sides of the insulator.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes

Wes, it's better if you start a thread on the main forum, more people are going to see your question.

Okay, sorry, will put in a forum

I put it in the general disscution help area and started a new thread. Thank you for letting me know.
