Hi, I have Emtron dx-2sp that needs some repair. I'm in Illinois just south of Chicago, does anyone know of a place or person that can look at this amp. Close by. I would like to take it there in person. Can't seem to find anyone that knows about these amps... thank you for any information. Dan N9DXR

This Emtron use a Chinese tube, It is a tetrode, There seems to be ZERO stateside repair facility authorized by Emtron any longer. The last person who claimed to be authorized died. You need someone that understands Tetrode amps to work on it. They are much different and more difficult to work on then typical Triode amplifiers. You may want to try some of the popular hams out there that work on other Tetrode amps like Alphas and QRO technology amps. They may venture working on it for you.

Just for curiosity, I looked for the manual, to see if it came with diagrams.

Found this: https://fccid.io/QYNDX-2/User-Manual/Users-Manual-308274#download

Just one problem, the right-hand half (or so) of the schematics are missing. So are the type numbers of some of the parts.

Without the full diagram, you'll have a hard time getting anyone to tackle a repair, no matter how qualified.

Could you define "some repair?"
Hi, it seems to not be getting any power from the plug. No lights or anything. Plug is live for sure. 2 fuse 's are ok. Pulled cover off, I dont see anything that looks bad , but I'm no tec so I may be overlooking something. Maybe a power supply I'm just guessing though....

These amps are know for having problems in the Molex type connectors that connect the primary side of the amp to the primary side of the transformer. They put this connection in so that the power transformer can be removed for shipping. Often times the connections are not durable enough if the amp gets operated hard and the heat generated at the connections burn up. I'll bet if you separate that connection and look closely you may find a problem or perhaps it just needs to be re-seated. Try that first.

MOLEX connectors in general (used on many amps) and multitude of other applications.
The connector "pins" are held into the molded fitting by small "ears" that lock the pins in place. These can release and the pins push out or back in the molded fitting, causing the connection to not seat properly.
Yes as stated inspect the pins for damage and push them forward in the housing, then pull back slightly to make sure they are locked in position. If one or more pulls out, then inspect the shaft of the pin and look for tiny "ears" that extend away from the main shaft. Then bend those out slightly and reinsert the pins in the correct location. You should then feel it "lock" back into position.
Simple continuity test on either side of the connector should show good. If you find an issue they are fairly easy to repair, with the correct size pins and a crimp tool.
I have also seen the molded housing expand or warp from heat causing the pins to push out or wobble causing poor or no connection.
NEWARK (Chicago office) has MOLEX products, as well as many other vendors.
