Been a very long time since I used any kind of an end-fed antenna. Since I'm getting impatient in my old age, figured I would try one. I'm in my garage tinkering everyday, so I put me a little station on my bench.

I found this 80-10 meter antenna on eBay. He's sold a bunch of them and everyone seems to fawn all over them. Shouldn't take me but a few minutes to throw it up.

Anyone buy one from this dude? Like it?

I have used a lot of end fed antennas with great success. Even at low heights. Have never been plagued by CMC or any other villain. Also have never used a counterpoise.
I’ve not used that particular one, but my guess is it will work great.
Just prepare to get beat up by all of the end fed haters. :giggle:

I have worked the world using EFHW antennas. I have a few of the myantennas.com versions (also USA made but not cheap, they were one of the first to really market them) across HAM and even on some licenced commercial HF applications, and they are fantastic. I also use a few PAR-EndFedz models and some that I homebrewed for QRP POTA/SOTA, and always do well with them.

If the EFHW antenna you are getting is built correctly then I am sure it will work very well for you. - It looks good to me!

IMO, multiband EFHW antennas like this are about as good as it gets for low cost + good performance + easy to install. Throw them over a tree, run them acorss the fence, wind them around a fibregless fishing pole and you are good to go.

I have an Alpha Delta 40/80 meter dipole that I've been meaning to install. Eventually, I'll get that one up and have something to compare. It's always been a decent performing dipole.

I'm going to mount the end feds input on the back end of my garage around 4 foot high. I have a nice big tree around 150' straight back. I should be able the get the dog bone around 40' high. Everything will be in the clear. It should be an optimal install. All my other wire antennas *require fairly long coax feeds due to the distance my trees are from my house and garage.

If this end fed works the way I'm expecting, then I'll likely drop my regular dipole and replace with end feds it's just to convenient not too.

Sounds good! Just FYI, ideally with an EFHW you don't want to have your coax run be very short, as some coax length will help to reduce any potential CMC and also will act as a counterpoise, to a point. Having said that, I have never had one not work well with all kinds of random length coax feeds, short and long.

80M Loop has always been a favorite of mine but requires a tuner to go everywhere. Friend has an impressive antenna that's been around forever. Cut for 80M, is a Doublet fed with ladderline. 80~10 + low to no SWR across the band - no tuner needed. Needs to be up as high as possible.
