Export Radio Newbie

I would like an export radio to use on the 11 meter band. I do not have a ham license. Is it legal for me to use it? I am looking at the Lincoln or the Ranger models. I realize that there are some modifications that have to be done. Thanks Merlin

Magical Merlin,

It is not legal to go over 4 watts on 11 meter.

All of the export radios go a little above 4 watts!

However that doesn't stop anyone from using them on 11 meters.

It is not legal to transmit on the 10 and 12 meter bands without the appropriate licensing. Common sense and good judgement will go a long way in helping a person to avoid the pitfall of getting the FCC on your back.

The Charlie Michael Dx group has some good info on freebanding.

I couldn't link to the website {I think it is a server problem at the other end} here is the url;

Hope this helps
