Doc, that was 1.3:1 SWR. An antenna does not have to show a flat SWR to show O reflect. The barefoot Uniden Grant that I tested on this tractor works as good as if I had it in my truck on a 12 volt system. Kale

Hello Tonkatoyntx:

OH YEAH SURE!!!!!

Next thing 40 40 will be getting over sized tires, larger alternator, bigger battery, another antenna up on the forward part of the vehicle, Fox Tails on the antennas, a loud horn, a nice seat cover, duel cigirette lighters, and who knows what else!

This will lead to Keydowns, racing, hanging out at the local drive in, checking out all the honey's, Girls all over ya's, ................

GREAT! How much are they??!?!?!? Hehehhehehe

Looking good!

Mole, the SWR was 1.3 with X=2. Not eneugh reflect to hurt the performance.

ORN, I'm not going to argue the point that it is impossible to get a reading of 1.0:1 with an x factor of 0, I have seen 1.0:i with O reflect on my 17 and 22" antennas on channel 1-40 many times if mounted in the proper place with a proper ground ,coax and such. I have seen a SWR reading of 1.3:1 and 1.4:1 with x factor of O also. One of these readings is a false reading. So what if it is. Maybe I should have started out by saying "LITTLE REFLECT" insread of NO reflect. This subject is being picked to death. The question was asked, just what was the actual reading and I said it was 1.3 with X=2. I wonder how close Wilson or all of the open coil antenna manufacturers can come to a fun test like this? I have built the 10K to the readings of the MFJ analizer and I am plenty satisfied with the way they are turning out to be and I hope everyone else that owns one is too. Im always looking for ways to improve my product and one of the best ways I know of is to "PLAY" around a little bit. After all if the 102" whip had been the only full resonant antenna, we wouldn't have had anything to play with. Kale.

Isn't the "X" reactance, no actual reflected power? Doc and QRN, I think Tonka was a bit confused and meant to say 1.3 swr and "0" reactance.

Qrn, thats why I said in my last post that maybe I should have said a "LITTLE REFLECT". I Have tuned antennas that read 1.O:1 with X=O but still didn't read 50 ohms. I think if an antenna reads1.O:1 with X=O the transmitter doesn't care what the ohms are. A man that has won many key downs with trophys to show for it told me that 42 to 50 ohm antennas was a winner just about every time. The times he got beat was when the ohms was 50 and above. I'm tired . I'm out of it. Kale
