I use a Shure 444 on my TS 830.

Really like it when ever i am not to lazy on the key.

Occasional unsolicited audio compliments, I just take it as a Kenwood Hybrid and a Shure 444, hard to beat that combo for audio.

Cool. That's good to know, since I have a 444 that came with my Drake C line. I may wire it up to the Kenwood for fun.

I just gave $200 for an almost mint TS820S on ebay a few weeks ago. I thought it was a steal. It had one or two minor issues that my tech said would be easy to fix. Here is a link to the ebay listing so you can see the pics. This a VERY CLEAN radio, it has very little running time on it.

On the TS 820 yes user friendly.
The new and some times older SMT boards are basically disposable.
Remove and replace modules.
