Large CME Observed

A nice coronal mass ejection (CME) is visible on Wednesday morning in the latest corona-graph imagery. The source appears to be a filament eruption behind the east limb. Because this is a farsided event, it will be directed away from Earth.

Space Weather Prediction Center.
UPDATED 2017 Oct 19 1230 UTC

.24 hr Summary...
Solar activity remained very low. No Earth-directed CMEs were observed
in coronagraph imagery.

.Forecast...
Solar activity is expected to continue at very low levels the next three
days (19-21 Oct).

  • @ AWP:
Is it possible to be on a lake and have a homing directional beam being emitted from the shore so a person could navigate to that beam's source? For example at night to a jetty.
