I will be doing so remodeling in the weeks to come and I am debating about running the coax for a base station and scanner in the family room. Many on the site have mentioned a great many times of growing up with a CB in the family room. I had mentioned before my father ran a Royce 619 Base Station in or living room with the Radio Shack 1/4 Ground Plane on the chimney side. Those days are gone, but not forgotten. My base setup and scanner are in my bedroom/ office area. I have friends/family text me all the time about "why are ambulances at this or that location?" My answer most of the time is, "if I am not in the office, then I did not hear the call." I know its just as easy to run speaker wire, but something about having a CB base radio face glowing on the coffee table is stuck in my head. Who on the site still has a CB radio in the family room like its 1977? Many thanks, Hope everyone gets to spend some time with family and loved ones this holiday weekend.

My "Hamshack" is in the basement family room, which coincidently is also being spruced up currently. The shack is torn down and packed away in a closet for the duration, leaving me radio-less and feeling naked and lost........:(

nobody ...... because it's not 1977 anymore

I could not get parts for the RCA AM radio upright cabinet, or the Victrola. I would have loved to have the AM cabinet restored just to have a functioning AM tube radio. They ended up getting passed on to others that wanted to try to restore. I have not done any work with vacuum tubes.

I am considering this. I have a hole in my living room wall from a 1980's cable TV instalation that is just pluged with some caulk. I could easily slap a Samlex power supply and my President Lincoln next to my computer. That would be smaller than a shoe box for the foot print! Not sure what antenna I would set up on that side of the house? Sounds fun!
