While a 1/2ʎ vertical doesn't raise too many eyebrows in an antenna building environment of cool and exotic, this one is the first 11m antenna I've thrown together in a very long time. Why?
Background:
My neighbor has long wanted a CB station, but the wife said, "No!"
Now, her sudden passing 7 months ago opened the door for many changes, and at 80 years old he decided to "do what I want to do."
I had a ProComm PT99 among things gotten from a SK widow, but it was untunable throw away loss. Also he ordered an Anytone AT-6666. It also would not key any wattage new out of the box. Back it's gone to Amazon.
What to do... I loaned him my old Realistic 40 channel AM/SSB mobile. He bought some coax and a power supply, mast pipe, etc, but had no antenna. So, I dug into my stuff and came up with an already made 64:1 transformer I had made 2-3 years ago for an EFHW multiband wire antenna, some yagi elements aluminum tubing, a 12" long 3/4" PVC tubing section, a few screws, and about 3 hrs of cleaning, measuring, clamping, screwing and testing for usable SWR.

With a radiator length of 17' 2.5"
SWR is 1.2:1.
X=7
C= 40? (don't remember, but wasn't 50).

I hate to disappoint, but I said, "Good enough" (I never expected a 64:1 transformer to give me what a LC tuning network could).

He will use the radio and quick and easy antenna until after New Year's when he is to purchase another new radio and new antenna. I'll get my stuff back and we'll both be happy.
