Favorite QRP rigs

I have two QRP rigs: the Elecraft KX3 and KX2. My favorite is the KX2. It's so small, light and portable with internal Li-ion batteries, and an internal mic. The built in ATU is unbeatable and it's really fun to use this thing like an HF HT on the upper bands. There's even a guy that made a USBC charger and replacement side plate for it, which is on my "must have" list.

Tuna-Tin 2, Heathkit HW-7, Sardine Sender, dixie cup and string.

Use a good grade of Copper Braid in place of the string with the Dixie Cups for better connectivity. LOL {:>)

As a novice back in 1964, I discovered that My Heathkit DX20 operated as a QRP rig. In the “Grid Tune” position only the 6CL6 oscillator will function. This all came as a big surprise to me one day while practicing code. Stations started to respond to my practice session….. Oops!

l have KX2 (used weekly), IC705 (stored in the box), and QMX (fun playing with). l have owned IC-703, FT817, FT818, KX3. Overall my favourite is the KX2.
