I am selling a Healthkit sb-220 in very good working condition. I just put in two new RF parts 3-500zg tubes a few weeks ago. The SB-220 has only been used one time since I installed the new tubes. I keyed it with a 25 watt dead key on my FT-102 and was getting close to 300 watt carrier with modulation was seeing around 600 watts output in CW. The amp is wired for 120vac. Also has new electrolytic capacitors installed. RM220 metering board, Softkey module, The faceplate is in near perfect condition. The outside case has a dent was that way when I bought it. I also have the feet not shown in the photos. This is a very nice SB-220. I am asking 1,250.00 PayPal gift. Including Shipping to the lower 48 States. Because there are people that like to overdrive and abuse these amplifiers it is being sold as is. But it is in great working condition. It Will be very well packed in two boxes. I will ship the tubes in the org cartons and box from RF parts with the receipt. 73,

Don't want to rain on your parade, but the high-voltage transformer is massive enough to cause inertia damage even if it's very well packed. When Heathkit sold the "factory built" version, it arrived in three cartons. One with the tubes, another with the amplifier and a third one with the HV transformer in it. All the wires had nylon connectors, so it merely plugged in with no soldering once it was bolted down.

The chassis is just not thick enough to support that transformer under any amount of shock. Worst case is to get drop-kicked en route such that the rear edge of the chassis gets sheared away from the flange that's bent over and bolted to the rear panel. Typical damage is for the chassis to "dish" downwards and crack the upper circuit breaker.

A glance inside a Henry amplifier that was shipped assembled reveals a chassis deck three or four times as thick, or made from steel rather than aluminum.

Horror stories abound, even for amplifiers with the tubes safely removed to their own shipping carton. Having the tubes bounce around loose inside is the most-famous dumb thing a shipper will do to this amplifier. But that's just the tip of the iceberg.

Hello Chris, You're not raining on my parade lol. I do understand what you are saying about the transformer weight and the thin frame of the SB-220. I have owned three of these over the last 15 years and none were ever damaged from the weight of the transformer doing shipping to or from. I always If someone was to buy it? I would be willing to remove the transformer for shipping if they wish. I have a photo of the bottom of the amplifier that shows two small blackboards I am guessing that is a soft start board? Lowing the price to $1,200.00 Including Shipping cost. If it doesn't sell here Guess it's off to eBay. It is very clean and in great working condition.

You're telling me lol. I really thought It was a keeper. But then I started missing having a stereo tube amplifier to listen to outside with the wife on those summer nights. So that's the reason for the sale. She is clean no bends Just that dent in the case. I only drove it with 25 watts. And that was just to try out the new tubes. The other two 3-500z tubes I took from the Henry because the SB-220 did not come with tubes. Hopefully, someone out there would like to own a nice SB-220? Or it's off to eBay and all those fees lol.
