looking for small radio with ssb to fit in overhead jeep console (7.25w x 2.5h x 9.0d) space is limmited and will need to be front firing mic. if you have any info on this radio or another one the same size or smaller (good or bad) :bounce that would be great!!!!!

if you could live with 1/2" hanging out the front a magnum 257 mould be a good choise. its not a true cb but its small in size and works well.

The Galaxy 979 is a larger size radio. The Magnum 257, Uniden 122 xl, and there is a Midland model 77-290 I think that is small also.

Try a Uniden 510 or 520.

I can, in general, recommend the 979. I have only had 1 customer with complaints about it. It seems to be quite reliable, and with the 1 exception, I've gotten good feedback about it.
