so a local has a 2517 that a older tech that retired that did some things okay but not great on other things did a mosfet upgrade on it it talks good on am but will blow the finals on SSB why is that is the bias voltage to high or could it be something else the guy didn't have any test equipment so i don't know how it was done but looking for ideas on a fix for it like i said am works great will blow the finals on SSB after mosfet upgrade

With my ADD, that is hard to read. Probably why you didn't get any response. Check the bias current, that is the #1 thing that will kill them in SSB mode.
It's a Galaxy 2517 with known problems and probably more problems yet to be found. It was a drifty substandard radio from the day it was made.
In other words, a complete turd, not worth fixing. That is likely why nobody has responded!
that radio has the same main board as most of them RCI/Galaxy radios.

The Galaxy 99v that was given to me for sure is rock solid stability when you leave it on for about half an hour. I can tune into other stations talking and it never drifts off. One thing I caught onto early on the radio while I was using it, it seemed like the RF power would gradually go down?? Lead me to check the bias of the driver and final, and man.. The two bias settings for the finals were WAYYYY too high. Corrected it and its been happy since.

thats what im thinking too but figured id ask and see if maybe its something else thanks for the reply and yeah most people can't take but a few secs to watch videos thats why tiktok got so big
I am in favour of being able to return that radio back to stock. Unlocked clarifier is a must, but the driver/final should of been left alone. If one wants more power, let the foot warmer do the work...

I may throw away my RM Italy 203P once it stops working, but ive bought it in 2011 and it keeps working to this day.
What I meant earlier was that don't be throwing 25+ watts into an RM Italy. Many lower wattage amps may work like that, it isn't recommended.
