For some reason my 2527 sounds crispy, crackly, and distorted on SSB. Almost like the AGC has been cranked all the way open. Anyone have any hints for me?

D1, D2, D34, D35 replace with 1n6263 diodes. this is for the old 2950 radios.you said yours has this board in it. before I did much to it I would make sure it is aligned properly. since you say it is only on SSB

Did that 'mushy' condition come on suddenly, or has it always been that way?

If it happened suddenly, then a part may be failing.

If it has always sounded that way, it would be best to ship it off to a real tech and give the radio a complete alignment.
Any radio will always operate better in TX and RX when properly aligned.

That diode changeout - while beneficial - will not cure the problem.

Robb ,since it only does this on ssb I am leaning more to check the alignment 1st also. the diodes would act up om am also.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
