does any one know how to de- tune galaxy 949 i need to get the output down to run amp

The TF power dial, to the left of the channel selector, turn it counter clockwise. If running am turn it all the way then slow turn to the right, key the radio if thw amp keys up then you have enough power, if not repeat until you do.
For SSB crank it wide open.

VR 18 adjusts the low AM power setting on the RF power knob - VR14 adjusts the high AM power on the RF power knob.

I'm curious, why would you tinker around inside the radio to lower the DK when the RF power knob on most 949 lowers the power down to around 1.5-2 watts??

My Sparky tuned 949 goes all the way down to .75 watts and up to about 5 watts.

right now the radio keys 16 watts on high side 10 watts on low side and thats not tech watts those are real watts

Must be out of adjustment. The alignment manual says that it should be 1 watt when turned down to the minimum point - and 4 watts when turned all of the way up - on the RF Gain knob.
