Galaxy DX 2517 Problem

After talking to a couple tech friends, they say that it wasn't RFI that caused the failure, probably just the age of the components in the radio. It's probably 30 or more years old, so it's likely. I'll be sending it off soon, for a refurbish.

Well, I just fired it up, and it's working in all modes. Only problem, is that the RF power knob does nothing. It dead keys 3W and swings to 39W PEP on all modes, except FM.

Any chance the plug in J17 got pulled loose? Older "black" radios had failure issues with that control. The 2517 usually doesn't. It's on the list of suspects, just the same.

Probably not, but I'll take the cover off tomorrow, and check it out.

Check the solder spots on the bottom of the board for J17. I've seen several radios on my desk with loose solder joints on J17. Also, check RF Power control.

  • @ Deon:
Good day, I have an Icom IC910H radio. I want to program a memory with split frequency tone on TX only and NO tone on RX,. Is this possible to do from the face of the radio? I don't have the interface to connect to a computer.

@Deon very unlikely to get a response here. You are better off starting a thread on the topic.
